Memories Around is a journal that lives on a map, and a map made of other people's journals. Here is the whole of it, in the order you'll meet it.
A memory
A photo, a few words, or both — pinned at the spot where it happened.

Your feed is whatever people left within your chosen range of where you stand.

What a memory is
A photo, up to two thousand words, or both — nothing else is required. It is pinned at the spot you were standing when you wrote it, and if there's a known place within reach, it can belong to that place too.

Six moods, and what they do
A mood is not decoration. It tints the memory wherever it appears, it is what Discovery filters by, and over months it turns your memories into a record of how places treated you.
Whatever is around you
The app opens on what people left near you, newest first. There's no algorithm behind it and nothing to follow — distance is the whole of the sorting, and you set how far it reaches.

Two layers sit on the map — memories and places — and you can have either, both or neither. Pins gather into counts as you zoom out, and tapping one opens what's underneath without leaving the map.

Looking for something in particular
Discovery is one screen with two modes. Memories is the default, since it's the thing a map alone can't give you; places are one tap away. The search words carry between them.

Places hold the memories left in them
Cafés, restaurants, bars, hotels, shops, museums, parks, viewpoints, beaches, landmarks, venues, stations and studios each have a page of their own, collecting what people wrote while they were there.

Places that find you
With alerts on, walking near somewhere worth knowing about is enough for your phone to say so — the museum you'd have walked past, the café someone remembered. Everything about them is yours to set.

Likes and comments
Public memories can be answered. A comment sits under the memory it belongs to, where the place gives it context.

One setting decides how far the feed, the map and discovery reach. It follows you between them.
What stays yours
Every memory is public or private, chosen as you write it and changeable afterwards. A private one is yours alone: it never reaches a feed, a map or a search. A public one carries your name and can be found by anyone standing in the same spot.
You can report anything you shouldn't have been shown, block the person who wrote it, and delete your account and everything in it whenever you decide to.
