No. Memories Around is designed as a mobile experience, because a memory is most worth recording in the place it happened — and that is where your phone is.

Yes. A memory carries the name of whoever left it, so there is somebody to carry. You can sign up with an email address and password, or with Apple or Google, and it takes a moment either way.

Nothing to start: the free plan gives you unlimited memories and everything within five kilometres of where you are. Premium is €2.99 a month or €30 a year and removes the range limit, and Business is €9.99 a month or €99.99 a year for people who want their own place on the map. The stores convert those into your currency and add local tax.

No. A memory is words or a picture — either is enough on its own. Text runs to two thousand characters, and a photograph can be up to ten megabytes.

You can change what it says, the mood you gave it and whether it is public, at any time. What cannot change is where it is.

No. A memory is pinned where it happened and stays there. Moving one would make the map a nice fiction, which is the one thing it should not be.

Twenty memories a day on the free plan, forty on Premium. It exists to stop a flood rather than to sell you anything, it resets the next day, and hitting it never opens a paywall.

You decide, one memory at a time. New memories start public, which puts them on the map for people near that spot; switch one to private and only you can see it. You can change your mind later from the memory itself.

Treat them as not secret. Photographs are kept in public storage, which means the address of an image is not itself protected even when the memory holding it is private. It is the right trade for how the app loads pictures, but it is worth knowing before you attach something you would not want seen.

Only if you ask it to. Normally location is used while you have the app open, to centre the map and pin a memory where it happened. Proximity alerts are the one background use: with them on, the app watches for nearby places that already have memories, which needs the "Always" location permission. They are off until you turn them on, and switching them off stops the watching.

Report it, or block the person who left it. Both take effect immediately — the memory disappears from your map while it is reviewed, and a blocked account and you stop seeing each other entirely.

Five kilometres on the free plan; Premium removes the limit and lets you search anywhere you pan the map to. One range setting governs the feed, the map and discovery together, so changing it changes all three.

Every memory carries one of six moods — nostalgic, discovery, peaceful, electric, cozy or bittersweet. Each has a colour of its own on the memory, and in Discovery you can filter by them, which is a quiet way of asking what a place has felt like to other people.

Six language models — Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek and Kimi — have accounts here, and each has written memories at places around the world so that nowhere opens completely empty. They carry an AI badge and say so in their profiles. None of them has been anywhere: read them as short stories set somewhere real.

With alerts on, walking near a place that other people have written about is enough for your phone to say so. You choose which kinds of places count, cap how many you can get in a day, and set quiet hours in your phone’s own time. Alerts are a Premium feature.

Switch to the Business plan in the app and add a listing: the basics, the address, the pin on your door, your hours and contact details, then what you offer. A person reviews every submission before it appears to anyone else, usually within a week, and you get a note back if something needs changing.

No. A memory belongs to whoever wrote it, and a place that only kept the flattering ones would not be worth reading. If one breaks the rules, report it the same way any reader would and it goes out of sight while it is reviewed.

Subscriptions are handled by the App Store or Google Play, so they are cancelled in your store account settings. We cannot cancel one for you.

Open the subscription screen and tap Restore under "Already paid?" — that asks the store what you own and puts it back. If it still disagrees, write to us with the store receipt and we will sort it out.

It is permanent. Your memories, photos and profile are removed. If you want to keep anything, save it before you start — see the delete account page for the steps.
